Dr Emmanuel Bernet
(PhD, CBT, MSPS, MICIP)
Psychotherapist, Educational Psychologist & Certified Bioenergetic Therapist
Dr Emmanuel Bernet supports individuals, parents, children, and teens through psychotherapy, educational psychology, Bioenergetic Analysis, counselling, and assessment-based support.

His work brings together body–mind awareness, educational psychology, cognitive behavioural approaches, and psychological assessment. He supports clients in understanding emotional difficulties, stress, trauma-related concerns, relationship patterns, school-related challenges, and the ways these experiences may be held in both the mind and body.
“The self cannot be divorced from the body, and self-awareness cannot be separated from body awareness. Bioenergetics is an adventure in self-discovery.”
— Dr Alexander Lowen
About Dr Emmanuel
Dr Emmanuel Bernet is a French-Canadian psychotherapist and educational psychologist based in Singapore. He offers counselling in English and French to children, adolescents, adults, parents, and families.

His professional background combines psychotherapy, educational psychology, and more than 25 years of experience as a primary school teacher, educational adviser, teacher trainer, and researcher in Canada, China, Singapore, and the wider Asia-Pacific region. This allows him to understand individual distress within wider family, school, work, cultural, and developmental contexts.

Emmanuel’s distinctive contribution lies in bringing Bioenergetic Analysis Therapy together with educational psychology, CBT-informed work, and psychological assessment. He has also contributed to publications and projects on motivation, wellbeing, emotional development, psychosocial competencies, and learning.

He is also Associate Editor of the Australian Psychological Society journal Educational and Developmental Psychologist.
How He Supports Clients
Emmanuel’s work is inspired by Bioenergetic Analysis and grounded in the understanding that emotional difficulties may be experienced not only through thoughts and words, but also through the body, relationships, breathing, posture, and patterns of self-protection.

In therapy, he supports clients in slowing down, listening more deeply to themselves, and beginning a structured process of self-discovery, emotional awareness, and reconnection. His work may include therapeutic conversation, body awareness, breathing, grounding exercises, gentle movement, posture and voice work, and supported emotional expression.

Alongside Bioenergetic Analysis, Emmanuel may integrate Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), clinical hypnotherapy techniques, positive psychology interventions, and play therapy strategies when working with children, where appropriate.

With children and adolescents, he adapts the work through developmentally appropriate language, play, role-play, drawing, movement, and parent guidance when relevant. With adults, the work may focus more directly on emotional patterns, trauma-related responses, relationship dynamics, stress, burnout, self-worth, and life transitions.
