“You don’t have to do it all at once, just one step at a time.”
Empowering Your Relationship with Food and Self
Ivan facilitates a structured meal support program designed for individuals navigating disordered eating and food-related distress. This program offers real-time behavioral and emotional support before, during, and after shared meals, with a focus on building autonomy, reducing avoidance behaviors, and fostering a more secure relationship with food. Sessions are conducted both online and in person, with strategies tailored to each client's unique challenges, preferences, and recovery goals. He collaborates closely with referring therapists to ensure continuity of care and consistent therapeutic messaging.
A Holistic and Evidence-Based Approach
Ivan integrates evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Schema Therapy, mindfulness, and trauma-informed interventions to support clients with eating-related struggles and their underlying emotional patterns. His clinical interests include various eating disorders (including Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, binge eating, and restrictive behaviors), as well as co-occurring concerns such as anxiety, perfectionism, low self-worth, OCD, and trauma. Ivan also works with issues related to identity development, emotion regulation, and body image, particularly in youth and young adults.
His therapeutic work is complemented by creative and experiential techniques, including journaling, strengths-based exploration, and arts-based interventions, helping clients build insight, resilience, and self-compassion.
Experience and Philosophy
Previously, Ivan was the lead facilitator of an intensive outpatient day program for eating disorders at a private mental health clinic. In that role, he designed and delivered structured group sessions combining psychoeducation, CBT-based skills, therapeutic leisure activities, and meal support. He also ran caregiver support groups, providing psychoeducation and guidance on fostering non-enabling, attuned caregiving practices.
Ivan is known for his warm, collaborative, and trauma-sensitive approach. He creates a safe and nonjudgmental space for clients to explore emotional difficulties, challenge unhelpful patterns, and grow with support. His work is grounded in cultural sensitivity, empathy, and a deep belief in each client’s capacity for change.
Beyond the Session
Outside of his clinical practice, Ivan enjoys hiking, basketball, and slow running. Activities that reflect his belief in mind-body wellness, self-care, and the restorative power of movement and nature.
